COMP Cams® Returns As Title Sponsor Of Interstate Sprint Car Trophy Cup

Memphis, TN ¬? For the second straight season COMP Cams® has signed on as the title sponsor of the COMP Cams® Interstate Sprint Car Trophy Cup. The program offers incentives to 360 c.i. Sprint Car competitors throughout the Mid-South who compete at their two local tracks.

In early 2011, MidSouthRacing.com owner, Ben Shelton, and COMP Cams® Vice President of Marketing, Chris Douglas, discussed the idea of creating a program that rewarded Sprint Car competitors in the Mid-South for competing in weekly racing series events at the two area tracks which ran Sprint Cars on a weekly basis. For decades I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) and Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) have produced some of the top Sprint Car pilots in the nation, while wowing fans with incredible shows. Both tracks, located only 100 miles apart, created a driver-friendly schedule in 2011, where Sprint Cars did not run on conflicting nights. The program quickly came to life as both tracks contributed cash to the points fund, while COMP Cams® also joined the program as the title sponsor, providing contingency prizes and a trophy cup to the champion.

Despite seeing the program come together just a week before the start of the season, the 2011 COMP Cams® Sprint Car Trophy Cup saw a great battle contested, which went down to the final event. A.G. Rains from West Memphis, AR, claimed the title and the trophy cup over Cody Gardner, Zach Pringle and Ronny Howard.

For 2012 the program has returned with COMP Cams® again serving as the title sponsor and both tracks participating. The points fund has been impressively doubled to include over $8,000 in cash with the introduction of sponsorship from Dixon Road U-Pull-It, based in Little Rock. COMP Cams® has added over $2,600 in contingency awards to the ante as well, in addition to the trophy cup that it will provide to the champion for the second straight season. The program begins at I-30 Speedway on Saturday, March 17th, and concludes with the event on Saturday, September 22nd at Riverside International Speedway.

COMP Cams® Vice President of Marketing, Chris Douglas, comments, "The COMP Cams® Interstate Trophy Cup illustrates what is good in racing. It represents weekly competition and it also represents good-hearted rivalries among hard-nosed competitors from the Mid-South area. COMP Cams® believes in weekly racers and weekly racing, and we are honored to be a part of this great program. We are all excited to see what driver comes out on top in the 2012 contest."
