Casey Findley Chosen As COMP Cams® Top Performer For February

Memphis, TN ? In 2012, weekly racers are being randomly recognized as the COMP Cams® Top Performer of the Month, and the winner for February is Arkansas driver, Casey Findley.

Bryant, Arkansas' Casey Findley has been chosen as the very first COMP Cams® Top Performer of the Month, the latest COMP® program recognizing racers’ on-track accomplishments. Casey is 38 years old and has been racing for over 25 years. He races primarily at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) and I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas), but occasionally enters various special events at other tracks throughout the southeast. Casey, who currently competes in the Open Wheel Modified division, utilizes both Larry Shaw Race Cars and Hoffman Race Cars for his chassis’, and the power plants under the hood of his #17F entry are provided by Kevin Barker.

Findley began his career in 1987 at the age of 13, and for the next eight years raced part-time in divisions that included Mini Stocks, Super Stocks and Street Stocks, managing to only win a total of three events. With a limited budget he opted to step away from racing at the end of the 1995 season and wouldn't return until 2002. With a better plan and better equipment, Findley quickly began finding victory lane in his return to racing, and also found his way to the Open Wheel Modified division in 2005. From 2002 until 2011, Findley won over 50 features, with his biggest career win coming in the 2010 Monster Madness event at Centerville Speedway (Centerville, Arkansas). While it wasn't the biggest paying win of his career, it was the most memorable because it came over some major rivals.

"There were some bizarre circumstances and some ill will leading up to that event that season, and there were some pretty hard feelings amongst some racers from that area,” Findley reminisces. “I wanted that win as bad as I've ever wanted anything, and the pride that came with standing in victory lane far outweighed the $1,200 winner's check."

Casey's favorite race track is Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi), known as the “Baddest Bullring in the South,” because he loves the high-speed racing on the high banks of the 1/3 mile oval.

The race he would most like to win, however, is the annual Dirty 30 at I-30 Speedway. The event traditionally brings more than 50 of the area's top Open Wheel Modifieds into battle at the track each year, and a win in the race brings with it not only a $2,000 winner's check, but also bragging rights for the year.

Family is a big part of Casey's life, and for him his proudest moment came as he watched his son, Drake, claim his first feature win in Go-Karts at Atoka Raceway Park (Atoka, Tennessee).

"Watching him race brings me more enjoyment than racing myself, and to see him beat such a tough field of competitors for the first time at Atoka will always be my most memorable moment," Findley says.

His family, which includes children, Drake (9) and Brilynn Grace (5), and his wife of thirteen years, Michelle, is a major part of the team. Other key crew members include team owner Kevin Barker, along with crew chief Russell Roberson, and crew member Tyler Breashears.

"I have an awesome team and can't thank Kevin Barker enough for the opportunity that he affords me,” Findley comments. “My entire crew is great, and it makes it that much better to have my family there with me each night."

Findley plans to again compete at I-30 Speedway and Beebe Speedway in 2012, as well as in select events at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas). Once a month he will also take Drake to Atoka as the youngster continues to build his own racing career.

For being the COMP Cams® Top Performer for February, Findley received a $50 gas card, a case of COMP® Engine Break-In Oil, a set of RHS® SBC valve covers and a swag pack featuring a hat, banner and poster.

Racers who wish to enter the COMP Cams® Top Performer contest should complete the entry form on the forum at www.MidSouthRacing.com. Drivers only need to enter once to be eligible to win each and every month.
