COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel Returns To Large Crowds At Street Rod Nationals

Memphis, TN – The latest installment of the COMP Cams® Engine Builder Duel featured six very quick builds over the course of four days at the 43rd Annual NSRA Street Rod Nationals in Louisville, KY.

The fifth summer of the Engine Builder Duel Presented by Snap-On Tools rolled on August 2nd – 5th in Louisville, KY, where a large group of attendees were treated to builds each day during the NSRA Street Rod Nationals.

Male and female participants young and old from around the country competed as part of a two-person team in the Duel, which crowns its winner based on which team can assemble and run a Small Block Chevy in the shortest amount of time.

The members of the winning team each receive $250 COMP Cams® product certificates, with the runners-up each receiving a $125 voucher. The festivities kicked off on Thursday, August 2nd, with the father-son team of Harry and Harrison Newman on Team COMP® posting a time of 40:04 to just best Team RHS® featuring George Thompson and Mike Skelton. The following day saw Butch Lewis and David Joyce on Team RHS® take on the father-son tandem of John and Kyle Boris for Team COMP®. The Boris family claimed the top prize with a time of 44:30. That afternoon, Ronald Rocheleau and Scott Shaffer turned in a time of 36:46 to take the win over Raymond and Iris Aldrige of Team COMP®. The Aldridges redeemed themselves on Saturday morning however. Now competing for Team RHS®, they turned in a blistering time of 32:29 – the fastest build of the event – to claim victory over Cory Potts and Debbie Kouray on Team COMP®. Saturday afternoon featured yet another father-son team, composed of Rob and David Stewart, who finished the build in 44:27 to give the win to Team RHS® over Justin Kuhns and Shawna McVay of Team COMP®. The final build of the weekend took place on Sunday morning, when the father-son duo of Chris and Carson Ellis of Team RHS® turned in a time of 34:24 to defeat Steve Hornback and Tyler Redden of Team COMP®.

The Louisville edition of the Engine Builder Duel wraps up the season for 2012; but be sure to watch for the events that the popular competition will be featured at next year.
