COMP Cams® Continues USMTS Engine Builder Of The Year Award

Valve train leader returns to popular Dirt Modified touring series in 2009 to sponsor Engine Builder of the Year Award & racer contingency program

Once again, COMP Cams® will give back to the engine builders who power the stars and cars of the United States Modified Touring Series in 2009. As they did during the 2008 racing season, COMP Cams® will offer a program to benefit both drivers and engine builders.

The COMP Cams® Engine Builder of the Year Award will recognize the high performance experts whose dedication and hard work propel the USMTS Modifieds around America's finest dirt ovals. The top five point earners in the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Tour will be awarded at the end of the racing season.

“The COMP Cams® Engine Builder of the Year Award was very popular and well-received in 2008,” said USMTS president Todd Staley. “Thanks to support from COMP Cams®, this has proven to be a great way to shine the limelight on some of the innovators in our sport.” Sput’s Racing Engines of Owatonna, MN, took home the 2008 COMP Cams® Engine Builder of the Year Award, capturing 23 main event wins during the 2008 campaign with 36 different engine builders scoring points toward the title.

In addition to the Engine Builder award, COMP Cams® will also be a cash contributor to the point funds for both the USMTS National Tour and USMTS Southern Series. Drivers displaying the approved COMP Cams® decal will benefit through awards designated for the top three finishers in each of the four USMTS National Tour regions and the USMTS Southern Series. The top five in national points at the conclusion of the hunt for the USMTS Casey's General Stores National Championship will also be recognized.

“We’re glad to return for our second season of working with the racers and engine builders of the USMTS,” said Chris Douglas, Marketing Director of COMP Cams®. “The 2008 season was a great start to our USMTS involvement, and we plan to be even more active in the series during the 2009 season. In fact, we will have representatives on-site at several national and regional events throughout the year. Like the USMTS, the COMP Cams® family continues to grow (including the recent acquisition of Quarter Master™), but what will never change is our mission to build superior products that increase our customer’s chances of success on the race track.”
